Thumb sucking 11 month old!?

so my daughter is almost 11 months old and has never really been one for sucking..she only used a pacifier for a few weeks, and as never sucked her thumb, until today for some reason. i was rocking her to slep for her afternoon nap and she had been drinking a bottle but she threw it down and started chewing on her fingers, which she does allllll the time, especially since shes getting a bunch of teeth all at once, but then she started sucking on her thumb a little bit. i dont want a thumb sucking child! is there anyway i can deter her from doing it? short of, you know, putting tabasco sauce on her thumb (ive heard of people doing this i think its incredibly cruel)
