Does god really call people to be single?

I rather doubt that Christians were trying to convince you to be single. I would think they were trying to explain to you that at age 35 being single was fine and even if you never married it would still be fine. If God has called you to remain single, then that is the best course for your life to take. Not all are called to marriage. Only you know what's in your heart. If God has called you to be single, you will find joy and fulfillment in it. He is not sabotaging anything. Perhaps your Christian friends were trying to reure you and only succeeded in making you miserable. Pray for understanding about the situation.
